Water Today's Water Expo 2010 Technical Workshop
Water Today’s Certification Training Program – 2 Days on PRE -TREATMENT, PHYSICO-CHEMICAL, BIOLOGICAL AND ADVANCED WASTEWATER PURIFICATION SYSTEMS FOR COMPIANCE & RECYCLE
25 & 26th February 2010 at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai
INTRODUCTION
Water and Wastewater management is getting merged due to water scarcity and stringent regulatory measures. The users do introspect all the operating environmental “Process & Hardware”, at the existing and while retrofitting/expanding scenarios. On the external front, ETP & STP systems are expanding, in terms of Technological features and modernization, to keep in tune with the integrated water management solutions. With the dwindling of water resources, many are contemplating as how to improve the performance of the installed system for getting recycled grade effluent or cut the O & M expenses. On the supplier front, many technological systems are surfacing with exotic names. User needs to be familiar on the conceptual, constructional and operation & maintenance features of such available technologies, while opting for environmentally benign solutions.
The treatment of effluent is a complex phenomenon with pre-treatment, physico-chemical, chemical, biochemical, tertiary and advanced wastewater purification and associated sludge management process. The selection of ETP process depends on ground holding of these process understandings, besides imitations of technology application, removal of specific pollutants, energy consumption, cost of the plant and end use of treated effluent either for disposal or reuse & recycle purpose. Treatment plant units do require good maintenance like production units. Beyond preventive and corrective maintenance, O&M of ETPs is system oriented management with skilled manpower; chemicals used for treatment, energy consumption, laboratory facilities etc.
With the above issues, Water Today is proposing to organize a 2-day Workshop on “Pre-treatment, physico-chemical, Biological and advanced wastewater purification systems for compliance & recycle”. The overall objective is to discuss various unit process & operations, with technological ground holding, associated with ETP & STP and enable participants for possible design exercises on select wastewater purification system and also discuss a case on retrofitting of existing ETP & STP.
OBJECTIVE
The objective of this program is to facilitate participants in enhanced understanding of design features involved in pre-treatment, primary treatment, physico-chemical treatment, biochemical treatment and sludge dewatering systems. Based on this and select exercises, retrofitting for better operational performance improvement of available ETP & STP can be visualized. As part of the program, 1 hour Examination will be conducted and Certificate of Merit issued.
Program Outline
The course will cover the following topics:
PROGRAM METHODOLOGY
Methodology includes classroom lectures with audiovisuals, design exercises, case studies and sharing of participant’s cases. More emphasis will be on participatory style of learning.
